Chris Stickels, Ascot’s Clerk of the Course, said: “It has been a great day with some terrific races. The King Edward VII was probably my highlight – I thought that was a great race.

“Feedback on the track has been pretty good so, bearing in mind we are forecast another hot day tomorrow, we are going to water tonight and put 5mm on the whole track.”
